We will meet at the ball diamonds behind the Mole Lake Casino & Lodge. Saturday, assembly will occur from 8:00am 'til 9:00am. There is adequate space for tow vehicles and trailers at the ball diamonds (remember, for workdays all vehicles must by street legal to travel on the roadway). Please allow enough time to sign liability waivers and register your vehicle with a WOHVA Trails Volunteer ID Sticker.
We will head into the woods, as a group promptly at 9:00am. Lunch will be on the trail (your responsibility). We will return to the ball diamonds (as a group) prior to 4:00pm. At 4:00pm we will hold a short Great Northern Trail Ride Trail Guides meeting. It will last 30 minutes. All WOHVA Members interested in being WOHVA Trail Guides and availble for the 2nd Annual Great Northern Trail Ride (August 20th - 23rd, 2009) or Ride with the Champions 40th Anniversary Brush Run 101 Trail Ride (September 2nd, 2009) should be in attendance.
As always, their will be a gathering at the Rice Lake Lounge after returning (this establishment serves alcohol - no minors allowed).
Sunday, assembly will occur from 8:30am 'til 9:00am. We will head into the woods, as a group promptly at 9:00am. We will return to the ball diamonds (as a group) at noon.
All Trail Volunteers must sign a WOHVA Liability Waiver. For insurance reasons, only WOHVA Individual Member vehicles are allowed on the trails. Volunteers that are not members of WOHVA are encouraged to accompany us and assist, but must ride in a WOHVA Member Vehicle.
Please remember no saws are allowed. Appropriate tools/supplies would be hat, gloves, loppers, small axe, bug spray and water.
NOTE, the Mole Lake Indian Reservation is not open to the general public. Any one without a WOHVA ID Sticker or not with the group will be considered to be trespassing. It's important to respect the time that others have committed and arrive on time. Stay with the group. WOHVA Spill Kits required for every vehicle (NO EXCEPTIONS!). Contact Dave Groshek to make arrangements to secure a kit if necessary.
WOHVA works closely with the Sokaogon/Chippewa to limit the environmental impact to Tribal Lands. As such, this scheduled event may be cancelled due to weather. Please watch this Forum for regular updates!
The weather forecast for Mole Lake shows a slight break in the heat on Saturday. However, the humidity will be very high! The forecast is for temps in the lower 80's and a 50% chance of scattered thunder showers (some could be severe).
The safety of our volunteers and the environment are of primary concern of WOHVA. With 80 degree temps and high humidity all volunteers should be certain to consume plenty of water. Please be sure to have a good supply of water with you should you be attending the Mole Lake Trails Work Weekend. We all know that the breeze is often limited by the trees in wooded areas. Be sure do remain hydrated and be aware of the possibility of heat related issues.
Also, with the possibility of severe storms, WOHVA may cancel a workday prior to or during the day. Strong winds and trees can be dangerous and wet conditions can pose a threat to trails. This event may need to be cancelled or modified due to weather conditions.
If the cancellation of the entire workday is necessary, WOHVA will announce it prior to leaving for the Tribal Lands (9:00am on both Saturday and Sunday). If your travel plans are determined by the weather, please check this forum for updates. WOHVA will attempt to post cancellation notices with as much advanced timing as possible.
WOHVA Trail Leaders will be advised as the workday progresses as to pending weather conditions. Trail Leaders will be contacted if their groups need to leave the Tribal Lands because of storms. If WOHVA Trail Work Teams are required to leave the woods, the remainder of the workday will be cancelled.
All determinations of weather conditions and safety will be determined by the Sokaogon/Chippewa Community and WOHVA.
Thanks for your anticipated understanding and cooperation.
