    codes in Chevy 5.3L

A co-worker is having some issues with his Tahoe.  He has a few codes that have showed up for trans related (read at emmisions and failed because).  2 questions.

    1) how can he reset the codes?

    2) how can he read these from the dash?

    Help please?

I am not sure how to do it that way but if he can get to advnced auto parts or auto zone or a place like that they have a reader that they let you use for free and i will tell you what is wrong and it will also clear it.

Get me more info please. Year, codes, etc.  Clearing them doesn't fix anything.

    Year 1994

    Codes: P0740, P0753, P0758, P0785  (related to solenoids?)

Understood on the clearing not fixing.  He just wants to reset them and see what comes on first and see how that interacts with the issues he is noticing.  Also this has a remote start system and he doesnt notice the issue when he uses the remote.  FYI this truck was purchased from Lenz 4 years agoWink

    Re: codes in Chevy 5.3L

There was not a Tahoe in 1994.  The 5.3L was available starting in 1999.

I'm going to guess that it is a 2004 Tahoe. If this is the case 99% of the times these codes present themselves together a faulty ignition switch is found.

Duh 2004 is correct.  Ah a ignition switch?  makes sense with the remote start thingy

    Thanks Hank
