    WOHVA Update 6/20/08

Recently (over the past two weeks), WOHVA took the following actions to forward OHV recreational opportunities:

WOHVA met with Nicolet National Forest, Lakewood/Laona District, Staff and recived an update on the Memorial Day Weekend activity on the Pipeline 4X4 Trail.  WOHVA updated new appointed District Ranger, Jeff Seefeldt on our past efforts and volunteerism on the Pipeline.  WOHVA looks forward to our continued partnership with the Forest Service.

WOHVA commented on the Travel Plans for the Nantahala (Tellico) & Holly Springs National Forests.  For more on these Forests and others, visit the BlueRibbon Coaltion.

WOHVA met with our friends at the Crandon Area Chamber of Commerce to finalize the plans for assisting them on several projects, including recreational maps of Forest County & Brush Run Racing Volunteers.

WOHVA responded to a request for assistance from the Red Cross in response to the terrible flooding which has hit parts of the Badger State.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those that have suffered and were in need of Red Cross help.

WOHVA met with Tom Tiffany, candidate for Wisconsin State Senate (District #16).  Tom listened to WOHVA concerns regarding land access and motorized recreation.

WOHVA participated in the drafting of the Best Management Practices for Motorized Recreation which were presented to the DNR's Invasive Species Best Manahement Practices for Wisconsin Recreation Advisory Project Committee.

WOHVA attended the Lake States Resource Alliance Board of Directors Meeting in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

WOHVA was a sponsor, attendee and displayed our promotional booth at the 2008 Native American Tourism of Wisconsin (NATOW) Conference in Mole Lake, Wisconsin.

WOHVA's "Great Northern Trail Ride" Mole Lake Trails Project Team met several times and further developed plans & maps for development of the Tribal Trails.

Now that you've read what WOHVA has done to further OHV recreation, ask yourself, "Have I done enough these past two weeks to assure that my kids will be able to enjoy motorized recreational opportunities?"

    Happy Trails,
