My old ones are as well, I'm thinking that they are only there for so long after inactivity. But I do not know for sure.

I couldn't remember if I erased/deleted mine or if they auto purged. Mine have done an Elvis too.

On a deeper look, I was able to find a few "thread IDs" for private messages that were sent to you, but unable to find the corresponding message in the tables that I expected to. From what I can tell within the db itself, Community Server does appear to be deleting old Private Messages; though I can't seem to find anywhere to tell it not to.
We will continue to look into the issue and will let you know once we find out more.
