Typically we meet at the BP in Lakewood and plan heading out from there at 9am. We usually break off into a few groups from there, each with our own task (between the hwy cleanup and starting on either end of the pipeline) while later meeting up on the pipeline for lunch. I know for sure you'll need gloves and garbage bags as we will certainly be picking up garbage. I'm sure Ken will fill us in with more details and whatever else may be needed.

Thanks for the reminder Zack!

I think I'll be able to make it for the pipeline cleanup - it was my first and only activity in 07 with WOHVA, and I hope to do it again! Reading from other posts, it looks like there's been debate about having the cleanup before "high activity time periods" or after, and having a better understanding of what that actually means, I look forward to discussing the timing with other people with more experience (fyi - I think after "high activity time periods" would be better :) )
The cleanup has always been before Mem. weekend because often in the past it required attention that would allow it to better survive that weekend. There has always been a lot more done than just pick up a few beer cans.
Just to add to what Zach already correctly stated; we have done maintenance on erosion with equipment on these days as well as pick up trash. Also, picking up the trash before more people comes helps keep it from getting ground in to the earth and in theory if a less environmentally conscious person doesn't see trash they are less likely to leave their own.
NO ONE that I know has hauled more trash away from the pipeline corridor than Zach in the last few years. He's got the hookup on getting rid of it too.

Don't know why this thought hasn't crossed my mind before, but should I drag a dumpster up there for the cleanup?? Sure would eliminate that smell that usually lingers for months after the past cleanups Plus, that would eliminate me handling all that crap twice Any objections?? If not, I'll see what I can do, but shouldn't be a problem to set a dumpster on my trailer and bring it up for the day I could drop the trailer at the farthest point in where Martin Lane crosses the Pipeline.
Zach, if you could bring up a dumpster it would be greatly appreciated. I believe last year Jeff brought a trailer load of the trash to the dump but if you could get a dumpster there that would be great.
I'll get the details up here shortly, but it will follow the pattern established over the previous years. I need to discuss details with the Forest Service once we can get out there to see exactly what they need us to do in the way of repairs. That can't be seen too easily with snow covering it, which should be mostly gone soon.
Where is the snow? N8 has been up in Wabeno quite a bit and they have been working and playing in the woods for several weeks.
I will have my trailor up there again. The dump is 5mi from my house so that is not a problem.
Ken, once again i could get a doser, skid stear, or a backhoe, and i have a trailor to pull them with this year.
There are still some snow piles in the woods by my house.
snow is gone in open areas, there is some left in the shaded areas(not much)
The rain a couple weeks ago and warm weather has melted most of the snow. There is a little bit of snow in Wabeno (8 miles north of town) as of this last Sunday when I helped my friend cut firewood. The snow I saw was just on northern slopes where the sun hadn't reached yet. Not nearly as muddy there as approx this time last year.

Kenny - I'll be up there Friday night as well, so I'll look at pitching my tent in the same area if y'all don't mind the company!
All of you guys make good company
There shouldn't be a problem with me getting a dumpster, so that is what I am planning on doing, I'll probably be staying at my Aunt's cabin in mountain, may have room if someone needs for Friday night.
I should have the dumpster at the hwy cleanup as well, so that should make for a good photo Maybe slap a WOHVA banner on it while its parked on the side of the road??
