    Dana 60

After blowing the lockout on the driver's side and wrecking the hub , it's time for an upgrade !! I got my hands on a 1986 Dana 60 high pinion . It will be narrowed to near the width of my stock dana 44 Bronco axle and will get a 5 on 5 1/2 hub .

The front is going to be stronger than the rear!

Are you doing lockouts again or will you use drive flanges?

I have 35 spline Currie axles in the rear  , so I think it will be a tie . This 60 has 35 spline inner and 30 spline outer shafts with lockouts  . I will be upgrading to 35 spline outers and will be putting lockouts . I never was a fan of turning the front end all the time .

What are you doing with the front axle currently in the truck?  EB Brother Andy might be looking for another axle.

    Ah, makes sense, Jay.

What spindle and hub are you going to run that's going to allow you to do a 5x5.5 bolt pattern and still use lockouts?  I'm interested in this because at some point I may want to upgrade my front axle to match the rear.  I've got the rear 60  shafts drilled with both 5x4.5 and 5x5.5 bolt patterns, and I'm currently using the 5x4.5 "stock" pattern.

As you know, there is always a future project list!

I will be selling my old axle , it has locker with 4:56 gears , yukon shafts and yukon cmt type joints , disc brakes, steering is setup with heim joints  .    I will be putting 5on 5.5 hub to match the rear bolt pattern and stay with the same rims I have . I have to start shopping for the hub , but with all the after market stuff thats out there i do not see it being a problem , Dynatrac will be my first stop . I just backed into this deal a week ago , so i jumped at it before it was sold .  Found these guys , way cheaper that Dynatrac  http://www.blackbirdscustomtrucks.com/index14.html

Extreme axle sales also has dana 60 hubs with different bolt patterns, I think about 440 per pair. extremeaxlesales.com

I have not got that far yet . Getting the axle cut down and buy the gears and locker , plus the hubs and brakes will come first . This will be a multi month build . I have to have a long talk with Jimmy as to what is going in the front end  , 3link , 4link  10link . I've seen 3 link with just coils like I have now flex realy good .

    Re: Dana 60

The 80's D60's have the pumpkin pushed so far over to the driver's side that coil and radius arms are tough. If you retube it you can do it.  In this case a 70's D60 is better due to the tube lengths but this one is already yours for a good price obviously. No doubt Jimmy can do it either way.  I'm not a huge fan of coilovers in WI as you probably already know. Either way I'm excited to see what you two cook up.  The Bronco already works great so this will be more fun either way.  :)

This is one way of doing a 3 link  . I wanted the pumkin as far over to the drivers side as I can get , to line up with the t case better . Just not much room between the exhaust and the tranny pan .

I had figured you were cooking up something like that.  Do they make the coil buckets for those also?

You can weld and or bolt the spring cup to it . Or go with Ballistic mount. http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Flat-bottom-radius-arm-coil-mounts_p_1184.html  If we go 4link
